An Idea
Basically an unedited, unrevised, stream of consciousness version of a hot mess that some editor would have to salvage one day.
I don’t know if this is of interest to anyone, but for the longest time I’ve been collecting some loose writing with the intent of one day putting out an autobiography. I know, I know, it’s incredibly conceited to write an autobiography. I don’t like it much myself — I think it’s pretentious and stupid. That said, on the few occasions that I’ve told some stories about my life at a party, or written something in passing on social media, there’s always been a handful of people who were like, ‘Wow, that’s crazy, you should write this down one day.’
Let me stress that I don’t have anything particularly firm. I have an explanatory prologue and a first chapter, and neither of which have seen an editor, which I’m confident they sorely need. But in the interest of maybe sensing if this is something people care about, I thought I could post both of those things here, and if it’s something that people like, I might consider putting more work into it.
If not, that’s OK too. I’m confident that one day I’ll end up with a book similar to this one, but it’s a matter of when, and how much effort I want to put into it today. Let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in reading. I’ve tentatively referred to this thing as Then Things Got Weird for a while, primarily because of how many of these stories would include some variation of that phrase. So if you want things to, in fact, get weird, let me know.
Although now that I think about it, only a handful of people made the jump to this blog after I left social media, so the amount of people who would be here to tell me if they wanted to read this would be significantly smaller than it would have been even a week ago. Hmm.
