Funeral programs are one of those things that graphic designers occasionally get asked to do. Worse, sometimes you’ll be asked to make a funeral program for someone that you know, and you’re not exactly in the mood to create a new design.
Here you can download a free InDesign file (both .indd and .idml files) for a relatively generic funeral program. No, I won’t make you sign up for some newsletter or send me $1 or whatever, just download it and use it.
There are links included — well, one link, for the flowers on the front — but no fonts are included. I’ve left the text boxes nice and big so that you can substitute it for whatever fonts you want to use with minimal problems.
This piece is designed as a bifolded 8.5” x 11” letter with a .125” bleed. You could pretty easily covert this to not bleed, or to print off a desktop printer if necessary, but I’ve given you as much as possible should you need to produce a professional print file. Click the link below to download this funeral program. In advance of starting this design, you’ll want:
Three photos, including a ‘headshot’ for the cover
Birth date and death date
Service location and time
The person’s obituary
The order and names involved in the service
The names of the pallbearers and any honorary pallbearers
A selected writing, such as a poem or song lyrics or something
A list of people the family want to say ‘thank you’ to
I give you free license to use this for whatever as long as you’re using it for free, personal use, and not charging somebody else to use it.
